Uniform

Children are encouraged to develop pride in themselves, their work and their school. Uniform encourages smartness, a sense of belonging and contributes towards good discipline. Our school colours are royal blue combined with grey.

Girl’s Uniform Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 (Key Stage One):

• Royal Blue crested sweatshirt or cardigans
• Grey pinafore, skirts or trousers
• White polo shirt
• Grey tights in winter, white socks in summer
• Black shoes
• Light blue gingham dresses in the summer.
• Royal blue crested infant rucksack

Boy’s Uniform Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 (Key Stage One):

• PE kit to be supplied in a blue pump bag
• Football boots and shin pads are necessary for the children who choose to stay for football after school club.

We request that all uniform items (including bags) are labelled clearly to avoid confusion. We try to encourage children to be responsible for the security of their own possessions.

Gooddies

Jewellery:

On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school, this includes fit-bits. The exceptions to this rule are small, discrete plain gold or silver coloured round studs in pierced ears. Any other colours, shapes or patterns are not allowed. Children may also wear a simple watch. We ask children to remove jewellery during PE and games. The school will not take responsibility for items that are lost. 

Hair: 

The school does not permit children to have haircuts that could serve as a distraction to other children. Pupils should not wear extreme hair fashions, these include dyed or streaked hair, close shaved hair and styles such as spikes, tufts, high tops, flat tops, Mohican haircuts and images or lines cut into the hair or eyebrows. 

Boys and girls with hair that is shoulder length or longer must have this neatly tied back at all times with a plain discrete  band.

Any hair accessory worn by your child should be discrete and ideally blue in colour. The accessory should serve the purpose of keeping hair tidy and not be worn for decorative purposes. Hair bobbles and hairbands must not have flowers and bows etc. attached to them. If a hairband must be worn to keep hair tidy, this should be discrete.

Hairstyles must not incorporate any unnatural designs including ticks, lines and swirls. The use of hair gels, waxes, oils, mousses and any other styling products is not allowed. This also helps with health & safety in PE because some of the styling products can come off onto the PE mats, causing them to have a slippery surface which is obviously dangerous for any child. 

If children come to school with styles that are not permitted within the letter or the spirit of the School Uniform Policy, parents will be contacted and advised that the style must be rectified.

It is not possible to foresee misinterpretations of the policy or to predict future fashion trends so parents are reminded of the expectation that the decision of the school in such matters is to be respected at all times. 

Make up and nail varnish are not allowed. 

Footwear:

The school wants all children to grow into healthy adults. We believe that it is dangerous for children to wear shoes with platform soles or high heels in school, so we do not allow this. Neither do we allow children to wear any kind of boots or trainers (except for P.E)
